Goldie Hawn Exits HBOs Viagra Diaries

EXCLUSIVE: Goldie Hawn’s return to acting is being put on hold. I’ve learned that the Oscar-winning actress is off HBO’s comedy pilotThe Viagra Diaries, her first gig in a decade. I hear that, after bumpy last few months, HBO and the actress have mutually agreed to part ways.Viagra Diaries wascreated bySex and the Citycreator/executive producer Darren Star and directed byBridesmaidshelmer Paul Feig. The series is based on the book by Barbara Rose Brooker and centers on Claire, who, after her husband has a mid-life crisis at 65 and leaves her, struggles with being single for the first time in 35 years. HBO wouldn’t comment, but there have been rumors about Hawn being difficult in her dealings with the rest of the people involved in the project and in the casting process. Bridesmaids Wendi McLendon-Covey is the only actor besides Hawn cast in the pilot so far; the husband role is yet to be filled after a number of actors read with Hawn for it. Viagra Diaries will go forward and I hear the producers and HBO are already looking into other actresses for the lead. Executive producing the pilot are Star, Feig, Aaron Kaplan, Alan, Wendy & Peter Riche and David Knoller. Feature actors have proven difficult when cast in TV pilots this year. Paul Bettany exited Showtime’s Masters Of Sex, while Ryan Phillippe departed CBS’ Golden Boy.
