Now's Good Trailer Online

Dakota Fanning features a bucket listDid you watch Gus Van Sant's winsome, terminally-ill-girl-meets-awesome-boy-and-they-fall-in-hipster-love piece Restless a year ago? Perhaps you have think, "This can be ok, but I'd rather it star Dakota Fanning, Jeremy Irvine from War Equine and have ample British accents"? You most likely did? Then you're fortunate! See the trailer for the moment Is Great below. All snark aside, Good arises from Ol Parker, who written and directed Imagine Me & You together with more recently scripted The Most Effective Exotic Marigold Hotel. The completely new film finds Fanning as Tessa Scott, a young lady recognized with terminal leukaemia, who decides to forgo anymore treatment and rather search for the products she's always aspired to complete. Among her targets is sampling drugs and losing her virginity, but in route she also meets and falls for Adam, her new neighbour. Which really changes her outlook.Parker has come up with a great Brit cast to aid his leads, with Paddy Considine, Olivia Williams and Kaya Scodelario an element of the ensemble. Whether or not this handles to improve within the mawkish, too-cute stylings of Restless, it could really be described as a nice little romantic weepy. Now's Good is going on May 25.

Goldie Hawn Exits HBOs Viagra Diaries

EXCLUSIVE: Goldie Hawn’s return to acting is being put on hold. I’ve learned that the Oscar-winning actress is off HBO’s comedy pilotThe Viagra Diaries, her first gig in a decade. I hear that, after bumpy last few months, HBO and the actress have mutually agreed to part ways.Viagra Diaries wascreated bySex and the Citycreator/executive producer Darren Star and directed byBridesmaidshelmer Paul Feig. The series is based on the book by Barbara Rose Brooker and centers on Claire, who, after her husband has a mid-life crisis at 65 and leaves her, struggles with being single for the first time in 35 years. HBO wouldn’t comment, but there have been rumors about Hawn being difficult in her dealings with the rest of the people involved in the project and in the casting process. Bridesmaids Wendi McLendon-Covey is the only actor besides Hawn cast in the pilot so far; the husband role is yet to be filled after a number of actors read with Hawn for it. Viagra Diaries will go forward and I hear the producers and HBO are already looking into other actresses for the lead. Executive producing the pilot are Star, Feig, Aaron Kaplan, Alan, Wendy & Peter Riche and David Knoller. Feature actors have proven difficult when cast in TV pilots this year. Paul Bettany exited Showtime’s Masters Of Sex, while Ryan Phillippe departed CBS’ Golden Boy.

Popular Character Actor Ben Gazzara Dies in NY

NY (AP) Ben Gazzara, whose powerful dramatic performances brought an intensity to a variety of roles and made him a memorable presence in such iconic productions over the decades as the original "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" on Broadway and the film "The Big Lebowski," has died at age 81.Longtime family friend Suzanne Mados said Gazzara died Friday in Manhattan. Mados, who owned the Wyndham Hotel, where celebrities such as Peter Falk and Martin Sheen stayed, said he died after being placed in hospice care for cancer. She and her husband helped marry Gazzara and his wife, German-born Elke Krivat, at their hotel.Gazzara was a proponent of method acting, in which the performer attempts to take on the thoughts and emotions of the character he's playing, and it helped him achieve stardom early in his career with two stirring Broadway performances. In 1955, he originated the role of Brick Pollitt, the disturbed alcoholic son and failed football star in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." He left the show after only seven months to take on an equally challenging role, Johnny Pope, the drug addict in "A Hatful of Rain." It earned him his first of three Tony Award nominations. In 1965, he moved on to TV stardom in "Run for Your Life," a drama about a workaholic lawyer who, diagnosed with a terminal illness, quits his job and embarks on a globe-trotting attempt to squeeze a lifetime of adventures into the one or two years he has left. He was twice nominated for Emmys during the show's three-year run.Gazzara made his movie debut in 1957 in "The Strange One," Calder Willingham's bitter drama about brutality at a Southern military school. He had previously played the lead role of the psychopathic cadet, Jocko de Paris, on Broadway in Willingham's stage version of the story, "End of Man."He followed that film with "Anatomy of a Murder," in which he played a man on trial for murdering a tavern keeper who had been accused of raping his wife. After "Run for Your Life" ended in 1968, Gazzara spent the rest of his career alternating between movies and the stage, although rarely with the critical acclaim he had enjoyed during his early years. In the 1970s, he teamed with his friend director John Cassavetes for three films, "The Killing of a Chinese Bookie" and "Opening Night." In another Cassavetes film, he appeared with Falk, and the two became friends (it was Cassavetes who introduced them to the Wyndham Hotel, according to a 1982 article in NY magazine).Gena Rowlands appeared with Gazzara in "Opening Night," which also starred Cassavetes. Cassavetes and Rowlands were married; he died in 1989. Falk died last year."It breaks my heart to have this era come to an end. Ben meant so much to all of us. To our families. To John. To Peter. To have them gone now is devastating to me," she said in a statement. She said her prayers and thoughts went out to "all his loyal and wonderful fans throughout the world."Rita Moreno, who played Gazzara's wife in the 2000 film "Blue Moon," said, "He was a wonderful man, and I so enjoyed working with him. I wish I could have had the pleasure more often."Other Gazzara films included "The Bridge at Remagen," ''The Young Doctors," ''They All Laughed," ''The Thomas Crown Affair," ''If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium," ''The Spanish Prisoner," ''Stag" and "Road House." He also made several films in Italy. He appeared on Broadway in revivals of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," ''Awake and Sing!" ''Strange Interlude" and several other plays.Gazzara began acting in television in 1952 with roles on the series "Danger" and "Kraft Television Theater." Before landing "Run for Your Life," he played a police detective in the series "Arrest and Trial," which lasted two seasons.Born Biagio Anthony Gazzara in NY on Aug. 28, 1930, he grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in a cold-water flat with a bathtub in the kitchen. Eighteen months later he auditioned for the Actors Studio run by Lee Strasberg and was accepted. The school was a beehive of activity in those days, turning out such followers of method acting as Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, James Dean, Barbara Bel Geddes, Shelley Winters, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Rod Steiger and Julie Harris."There's a lot of voodoo about the Actors Studio," Gazzara told The Associated Press in 1966. "In the best sense it was a place for professionals to stay in touch with their craft, where newcomers and professionals mingled, to grow, to try parts they would never get in the professional theater and to even fall on their face."Gazzara's first two marriages, to actresses Louise Erikson and Janice Rule, ended in divorce. While filming "Inchon" in Korea in 1981, he met Krivat. They married the following year, and the union endured."Elke saved my life," Gazzara said in 1999. "When I met her, I was drinking too much, fooling around too much, killing myself. She put romance and hope back in my life."He adopted Krivat's daughter, Danja, as his own. She recalled on Friday that he was a "complex soul" and that his role as a father to her and his own daughter was challenging."I adored Ben, and so did his daughter," she said. "But we both had difficulty with him ... New 'Prometheus,' 'Hobbit' Photos Tease Space Jockeys And Sting

After the release of its first trailer, the news of "Prometheus" being a slight "Alien" prequel is more or less an open secret. Thankfully, the filmmakers haven't tried to pretend otherwise. A newly released screenshot finds "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" star Noomi Rapace in the corridor of a space ship, alone except for the pair of shadowy space jockeys standing right behind her. It's yet another piece of the puzzle, one the filmmakers have said will be revealed in due time. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Lindelof emphasized the film's ambition. "The movie is definitely epic in its scope. One of the filmmakers that we ended up talking about to a fair degree of redundancy was David Lean, who directed 'Lawrence of Arabia,'" he said. "We wanted to make the movie feel big by having the characters be small in big spaces. That connected to the larger themes we were talking about that were all just these little gnats crawling around on our little planet." On the other side of the spectrum is "The Hobbit," which released a still of Bilbo Baggins holding his signature sword, Sting, from deep inside of a mountain (either the one where he meets Gollum or the one where he fights Smaug; it's been a while since we brushed up on our Tolkien). Martin Freeman looks a good deal grittier than he has in earlier pictures, and it's a nice reminder that "The Hobbit" will venture into territory more swashbuckling than dwarves singing songs around a fire. What do you think of the new photos? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!

Uncharted'As the television manufacturing industry struggles to persuade consumers that 3D is the future, the videogame industry is having a little easier time of it.Several of the hottest games of 2011 were 3D-compatible. Some, like Sony's "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception," made a convincing case that the technology could add to the gaming experience and wasn't just a gimmick. And after a sluggish start, Nintendo's 3DS has, seemingly, finally found its footing. With the one-two punch of a price cut and a strong holiday slate of games, the 3DS surpassed first year sales of the Nintendo DS in just eight months. (The DS went on to be the bestselling game system of all time in the U.S.) Nintendo now estimates 3DS unit sales should top 4 million units by February.Sony, meanwhile, is hoping to jumpstart interest with its PlayStation 3D display and graphics company Nvidia works actively with developers of PC games to include 3D elements in their titles. The future of 3D, however, may not lie in stereoscopic displays. Research is already under way on free-floating 3D objects -- essentially holograms -- with gaming applications. ViZoo, based in Denmark, already has a prototype running. It's early still, but if successful, it could take the interactive nature that is now becoming standard (with the Wii controller and Kinect) to the next level.CES Daily Spotlight: The Future of 3DFalling prices may unlock 3D | 3D TV's evolution has barely begun | Fans finally warm to stereo vidgaming | Streaming emerges as 3D option | Lightfield capture heralds new camera era Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

Set in L.A. during the height of the mob, the film also stars a who's who of Hollywoods A-list including Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. While the premise certainly has us intrigued, the idea of seeing Gosling don some old-school garb piques our interest almost as much as the chance we might get to see those famous abs again. -Jocelyn Vena Vote in MTV Movie Brawl 2012! "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" If Nic Cage wasn't crazy enough for you as Johnny Blaze in the first "Ghost Rider" movie, the directors behind the "Crank" films are here to help. And if you thought the first film severely lacked Ghost Rider urinating fire, I direct you to the trailer. -Kevin P. Sullivan "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" Director Jon M. Chu has gone with the "out with the bad, in with the ninjas" approach to the second big-screen "G.I. Joe." By hanging onto only the good elements of "Rise of Cobra" (see: Zartan in the White House, no Marlon Wayans) and hiring an awesome cast headlined by The Rock, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki and an army of ninjas, Chu looks to have created the movie we "Joe" fans have been waiting for our entire lives to see. -JW "Gravity" Director Alfonso Cuarn returns to the sci-fi drama after the criminally underappreciated "Children of Men" with a flick that has nerds and lovers of George Clooney experiencing similar shivers of delight. The plot particulars Clooney and Sandra Bullock play astronauts stranded on a space station are almost beside the point in a film that promises to deliver cutting-edge CG tech, wicked character drama and riveting performances from two Oscar winners. -ED Vote in Movie Brawl's Wild Card round! "The Great Gatsby" While Bradley Cooper may not have plans to see Baz Luhrmanns 3-D take on the classic Fitzgerald novel, we have to admit were pretty excited to see Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and the rest of the cast put their spin on the story about love, longing and lust among the upper class of Long Island during the days of flappers and gin. -JV "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" We're living in the fantasy of a "Lord of the Rings" fan. Ten years after the first film opened, Peter Jackson and Ian McKellen are heading back to Middle Earth for a two-film prequel to the Oscar-winning epic. We won't be far behind. -KPS MTV Movie Brawl 2012 Has Begun! Come back tomorrow for more of MTV's Movie Brawl 2012 competitors! What do you think of the MTV Movie Brawl?
